Welcome to Year 2

Our class teachers are Mrs. Long (Monday, Tuesday am, Wednesday and Friday) and Miss. Cave (Tuesday pm and Thursday).

We are supported in our classroom by an amazing team consisting of Mrs. Haggart, Mrs. Nugent, Mrs. Newland-Smith, Mrs. Li and Mr. Rudd.

 

We currently do PE on Tuesdays and Fridays. The children come into school in their PE kits to save time and to avoid lost clothing!

Each week the children have a new reading book which is in line with our phonics learning and a library book of their choice. These are changed weekly on a Thursday. We have the expectation that children read daily at home and there are at least three entries in their reading record books per week. House points and stickers are given as incentives!

Reading in class takes place during our phonics lessons and we do Reading Fluency- where we read, discuss and answer questions together, based on a short text. We listen to individuals whilst the children are reading their phonics-based books.

All the children are provided with a Numbots log in. This helps build number fluency through age related games.

Lastly, the children have been given a matrix of home-learning activities which they can choose and bring in to show the class and/ or record in their big pink books.
