Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to St John’s Primary School!

We are a one-form entry school in the heart of the community of Wallingford, offering an exciting and engaging primary school experience for children aged 4 to 11.  We pride ourselves on ensuring that all children at St John’s feel nurtured and able to achieve.   We promote positive values in all we do, focusing on one value each fortnight in our assemblies.  Our aim is that St John’s pupils leave us well prepared for the next stage of their education, enjoying the challenges that learning brings and are well on their way to becoming successful life-long learners.

Our ambitious and creative curriculum is enriched by a range of additional experiences, such as Forest School for all year groups and after school clubs.  We plan trips, themed days and visitors to school throughout the year to bring our curriculum subjects to life.

Pupil wellbeing is a high priority at St John’s.  Through the Family Links Nurturing programme, Zones of Regulation and our wider PHSE curriculum, pupils are taught emotional literacy skills and the school provides individual support when it is needed.

Our older children enjoy taking on responsibilities within school and act as ‘buddies’ for our younger children.  They are also trained as Junior Active Leaders, running active games in the playground.

St John’s is part of the OPEN Umbrella Trust, a collaborative partnership of four forward thinking primary schools in South Oxfordshire, working together to provide an excellent education for all of our pupils.

We have a talented and dedicated staff team who are keen to work in partnership with parents to support children’s learning and wider development.  We are also supported by our hard-working PTFA who organise social events for children and families and raise valuable funds for projects within the school.

We would be delighted to welcome you to our school if you would like to visit.  You can book a visit through the office.

Kind regards

Nicola Hughes
