Our Ethos
We want the best for our children. We engender a sense of belonging within our school and wider community, so that our children value and take pride in being a pupil at St John’s, whether they attend now or did so many years ago.
Our St John’s family nurtures kind, resilient, ambitious and curious children. Our caring environment supports well-being and self-belief, encouraging everyone to flourish and succeed. Through a wide range of experiences and opportunities, every child has the chance to shine, develop a love of learning and prepare for the ever-changing world and a future of possibilities.
We encourage and value close links with parents and carers who are welcome to come and take an interest, and help, in the school, as well as to discuss their child’s progress and welfare. We recognise that parents are a child’s first and most enduring teachers and strive to work in partnership with them.
Vision and Values
We are proud of the history of St. John’s and the standing it has in our local community, and we are tireless in our own ambition to provide the best education for our children. We are readying our children for life beyond our school, wherever it takes them and however the world changes around them.
We promote our vision through our values of Perseverance, Ambition, Curiosity and Kindness.
Our PACK values demonstrate clearly that each child is part of our “pack” and belongs in the school. They also form a pack that each child can carry with them throughout their school life and beyond. Our values are embedded throughout our curriculum and form the basis of our restorative approach to behaviours and relationships.
Through our rich curriculum and opportunities, both in and outside the classroom, we endeavour to ensure:
- Every child achieves the highest possible standards of learning and behaviour
- Every child develops a respectful and caring attitude towards others and the world around them.
- Every child builds the skills and confidence to make positive choices about their physical and emotional well-being.
- Every child embraces a love of learning and the ability to be adaptable in an ever-changing world.
St. John’s Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. To achieve our commitment, we will ensure continuous improvement and development of robust safeguarding processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our staff, volunteers and wider community.
Our children are at the heart of all we do. We ask that our children and staff demonstrate that they are Ready, Respectful and Safe as they engage with learning, each other and all aspects of school life.
