At St.John’s Primary School, safeguarding is paramount in all we do. We recognise our responsibility for Safeguarding and Child Protection and we have a robust culture of safeguarding. We know that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.
We ensure this through:
- Safer recruitment procedures, including DBS and suitability checks;
- Raising awareness of child protection issues, amongst staff, governors and volunteers and regular safeguarding training;
- Using established procedures for reporting cases, or suspected cases of abuse;
- Supporting children who have been abused in accordance with Child Protection planning;
- Establishing a safe and nurturing environment for all children free from discrimination or bullying;
- Ensuring multiple opportunities in the curriculum for teaching children about how to keep safe;
- Ensuring children know there are trusted adults in school who they can talk to if they are worried about anything.
If you have a safeguarding concern about a child, family or member of staff, please report it to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Claire Linfield (Headteacher) or one of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Zoe Parks (Deputy Headteacher) Nicola Ball (KS1 Coordinator) or Charlotte Shepherd (SENDCo).
