Welcome to Year 1

Our class teachers are Mrs. Rudd (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday) and Ms. Cave (Wednesday)

We are supported in our classroom by Miss. Lidbetter, Mrs. Newland – Smith, Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Plumb.

 

We follow the National Curriculum and learn through a combination of formal teaching alongside continuous and enhanced provision approaches.

We currently do PE on Tuesdays and Fridays. The children come into school in their PE kits to save time and to avoid misplaced clothing!

Each week, the children have a new reading book (which is in line with our phonics learning) and a library book of their choice. These are changed weekly on a Thursday. We have the expectation that children read daily at home and there are at least three entries in their reading record books per week. House points and stickers are given as incentives!

Reading in class takes place during our phonics lessons and we do Reading Fluency- where we read, discuss and answer questions together, based on a short text. We listen to individuals whilst the children are reading their phonics-based books.

All the children are provided with a Numbots log-in. This helps build number fluency through age related games.

Lastly, the children have been given a matrix of home-learning activities which they can choose between and bring in to show the class and/ or record in their big pink books.
