At St John’s Primary School we recognise our responsibility for Safeguarding and Child Protection. Our first priority is to keep every child safe from harm and we have a robust culture of safeguarding. We ensure this through:
- Safer recruitment procedures, including DBS and suitability checks
- Raising awareness of child protection issues, amongst staff, governors and volunteers and regular safeguarding training
- Using established procedures for reporting cases, or suspected cases of abuse
- Supporting children who have been abused in accordance with Child Protection planning
- Establishing a safe and nurturing environment for all children free from discrimination or bullying
- Including opportunities in the curriculum for teaching children about how to keep safe
- Ensuring children know there are trusted adults in school who they can talk to if they are worried about anything
If you have a safeguarding concern about a child please report it to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Nicky Hughes, Headteacher, or one of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads – Sarah Burgess, Assistant Headteacher, Nicola Ball, KS1 Coordinator or Charlotte Shepherd, SENCo.
